Downwind from St. George Island, and a hard way back
Conditions: WNW 6 to 10 knots, gusts to 17, 73 to 77°F, overcast; falling tide until early afternoon, then rising
I launched Bluebell from the St. George Island boat ramp at the island end of the causeway and sailed out to the channel. With the wind from the west, I followed the channel east until it turned north.
Coming back meant sailing upwind, and I had a hard time of it. After a lot of tacks without much progress, I motored the rest of the way to the ramp.
Wind, temperature, and sky are from the Apalachicola airport weather station (KAAF). Tide is from NOAA's Apalachicola station.

Arrows show the direction of travel. Point of sail compares the boat's course with the wind measured at KAAF, so short stretches can be off when the wind on the water differs. Shoreline: USGS National Hydrography Dataset.
