New Year's Day toward Government Cut
Conditions: NW shifting to W, 9 to 13 knots, gusts to 19, 63 to 67°F, clear; rising tide
I sailed Bluebell out of Battery Park Marina and south across the bay toward Government Cut. Close to the cut the water got steep and confused, more than I was comfortable with, so I used the motor to keep control and turned back north.
Then I tried sailing west. That was into the wind, so I didn’t get far before heading north to the marina.
It was warmer than the day before, with plenty of fetch and waves, and a fun day of sailing.
Wind, temperature, and sky are from the Apalachicola airport weather station (KAAF). Tide is from NOAA's Apalachicola station.

Arrows show the direction of travel. Point of sail compares the boat's course with the wind measured at KAAF, so short stretches can be off when the wind on the water differs. Shoreline: USGS National Hydrography Dataset.
